AI Use Policy for the Scientific Journal ''Vestnik SGUGiT''

The Editorial Board of the journal "Vestnik SGUGiT" recognizes the widespread use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools and establishes the following rules for authors, reviewers, and editorial board members.

For Authors:

AI-based programs and tools do not meet the authorship requirements and cannot be listed as the author of an article, as they are not responsible for the submitted work, cannot declare conflicts of interest, or manage copyright.

Authors should be aware that AI tools often provide false and unverified information. An algorithm is not capable of critically assessing the quality and authenticity of the obtained results; the author alone is responsible for the accuracy of the data used.

When using AI, safety, data protection, copyright, and related rights regulations must be observed.

The use of AI programs is not prohibited in the preparation of an article. However, any use of AI must be disclosed in the manuscript (section "Methods and Materials") and include: purpose (translation, language editing, formatting of the list of sources, etc.), tool name and version/model, and service type (local/corporate/public).

The use of AI tools for editing and translating text and processing reliable data is not prohibited; however, when using such tools, the author must carefully verify the information provided.

When translating text using AI, authors are obligated to verify the accuracy of the meaning conveyed. Automatic translations may contain errors in terminology, distort meaning, or fail to take into account the stylistic features of the source language. Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy of the translation, including the correctness of citations and references to foreign sources. Incorrect or misleading translations due to the inappropriate use of AI will be considered a violation of the principles of scientific integrity.

The use of AI tools for generating tables, figures, and datasets is prohibited. An exception is made for articles in which AI is the object (subject) of the study. Only standard image correction (brightness, contrast, and color balance adjustments) is permitted, provided that they do not distort the presented data.

The use of AI-generated references, including references to non-existent publications or erroneous bibliographic data, is strictly prohibited.

The use of AI in the "Results" section or other structural parts of a scientific article presenting the main findings of the study is not permitted.

For reviewers:

The use of AI-based programs and tools for preparing reviews is prohibited. Uploading content to AI programs constitutes a violation of copyright and confidentiality.

If a reviewer suspects that authors are using AI tools (in the absence of a corresponding reference), they should notify the editorial board of the publication.

For the editorial board:

When reviewing manuscripts, the editorial board uses the "Antiplagiarism" system, which detects generated text. Automatic "AI detectors" are used only for screening; final decisions are made based on expert evaluation. This policy will be regularly reviewed by the editorial team and updated to reflect rapidly evolving AI technologies and best practices in scholarly publishing.
